Sheila H's Story
Updated: May 12, 2020

Born in 1966 with Pulmonary Stenosis. Open heart surgery at 1 years old to re open the Pulmonary valve. Jump to year 2000 I found out I was pregnant and my valve was closing up. Drs recommendations we terminate the pregnancy because I would not survive the pregnancy.
Two day’s before the termination a surgeon called and asked if I’d be interested in trying balloon surgery to try and open the valve. I of course said yes. Unfortunately it didn’t work. The surgeon then said only other options were open heart surgery, but the baby’s chances were slim. A week later I had open heart surgery while 3 months pregnant. Pulmonary Valve replacement with a Cadaver valve. I did great and my baby girl survived!
