My name is Karlie and I was born with Tricuspid Atresia. My identical twin sister Kylie was born with VSD. We were both adopted at two days old. They didn't expect me to live past a few days back in 1984. I have had 4 open heart surgeries and I have a pacemaker. I was given 48hrs to live on May 2, 2009. I went in for my fourth open heart surgery, and they pulled a blood clot the size of a grapefruit out of my heart. I woke up for four days with a pacemaker. Now, eleven years later I turned 36 this past March. I am the oldest woman to ever live in my family. Our mom died when we were just eleven years old and she was 35. It was just me and Kylie until six years ago when I get a text from a relative. "You and Kylie have a brother and he's been looking for yall"
Our brother Matthew had found us. We had no clue we even had siblings out there, but it was true. A few years later, Kylie found our birth mother. I have leaned on my faith in God through every trial I have been through. Especially last July when God called Kylie home (at the same age as our mom was when she died; 35). She went in for her second heart surgery and no one thought she wouldn't make it. I've had 4. How could she not make it, and I did? There is so much to tell about my story, (not enough room here) so that is why I have written a memoir that is being released June 23rd. I hope this book inspires and encourages everyone to have faith in every life situation, and always go after your dreams. You can see my memoir at karliegreen.com or on socials at karliegreen27
