I was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) in the womb. This news came to my family after previously losing two other children to this congenital heart defect. At only three days old, I received surgery to fix my heart. After spending weeks in the hospital, I was not expected to survive. A true miracle, I have defeated all of the odds. Since then, I have received two more open heart surgeries and thank Dr. Henry Wiles at the #ChildrensHospitalofGeorgia for his support throughout this lifelong journey. I am now a happy, healthy 25-year-old and am glad to able to share my story with other survivors.
